Curriculum for the Master of Financial Economics (MFE)

The MFE program requires a minimum of 30 credits from an approved program of study (see below), and at least 15 of those credits must be 6000 level courses or higher.

Choose one of the following specialization options, or receive approval from the graduate program director for alternative programs of study.

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

The curriculum in this specialization is intended to provide you with expertise and real-world skills in investment analysis. The coursework is designed to help you pass the CFA Level I Exam. The completion of the CFA program is considered one of the highest distinctions in the investment management profession. This specialization will help prepare you for a variety of career paths in the investment industry, such as

The curriculum in this specialization is intended to show you how new technologies (e.g., artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, and big data) are used in the delivery of various financial services. Earning this degree positions you to pursue exciting career paths in FinTech, including

Personal Financial Planning (PFP)

The curriculum in this specialization is intended to provide you with the tools to develop a comprehensive financial plan that encompasses spending, financing, and investing. The curriculum is registered through the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Board of Standards. The successful completion of the program qualifies you to sit for the CFP exam, which is the standard of excellence in financial planning. The PFP specialization prepares you for careers in
