Candidate Requirements

To be inducted into the Utah State University chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the following requirements must be completed within one semester, fall or spring (with the exception of ACCT 3110, which must be completed prior to one’s candidacy semester).

  • Completed ACCT 3110 – unless a masters student
  • Overall GPA 3.20
  • Accounting GPA 3.40
  • Attendance at all professional meetings (May miss one if approved by an officer)
    • Fall: Professional meetings include SOA start-up and BAP orientation
    • Spring:Professional meetings include VITA training sessions and BAP orientation
  • Attendance at the initiation banquet
  • Participation in one Beta Alpha Psi committee assignment
  • Service minutes with Beta Alpha Psi
    • Fall: 600 Beta Alpha Psi service minutes, with at least 300 minutes in the accounting tutor lab and participation in the official BAP service project
    • Spring: minimum of 660 minutes Beta Alpha Psi service minutes, with at least 600 minutes of VITA, 60 minutes in the accounting tutor lab
  • $65 one-time national dues
  • $25 chapter dues per semester
    • Make checks payable to Beta Alpha Psi at the School of Accountancy office on the 8th floor of the business building

Outstanding Candidate Requirements

One individual each semester is recognized as the “outstanding candidate” for going above and beyond the requirements. The outstanding candidate receives a cash prize at the initiation banquet. The award is based on qualifying service rendered and all qualifications met. 
To be considered for this award, you must complete the following in addition to the candidate requirements:

  • Be a member or affiliate of a professional organization outside of Beta Alpha Psi (UACPA, AICPA, IMA, FPA, etc.)
  • Must attend all required meetings (Candidates generally may be excused from one meeting)
  • Report all BAP and non-BAP service minutes and committee assignments during the semester
