Activities

Professional Meetings

At professional meetings, accounting professionals present, discuss, and answer questions about financial topics, including audit vs. tax, hedge funds, technology in accounting, professionalism and ethics, forensic accounting, and much more. Attendance provides students with opportunities for networking, career advice, personal development, and practical education. The meetings last approximately 60 minutes and include a meal prior to the presentation. Dress is business casual.

Alumni Events

Alumni Events reunite Beta Alpha Psi members, facilitate networking, and provide professionals and professors greater interaction with students. Many alumni choose to become mentors to students, and, in addition to answering questions and providing career advice at the event, continue to assist students in the months to follow. In the spring, participants generally attend a dinner followed by an exciting USU basketball game. Other events are scheduled throughout the year.

Meet the Firms (Fall)

Meet the Firms is an annual event where students are given the opportunity to meet with accounting professionals, as well as to learn more about the various career tracks they may pursue in the accounting profession. The event attracts hundreds of professionals representing international, regional, and local accounting firms, governmental agencies, and private corporations.

Golf Tournament (Fall)

At the annual golf tournament, participants from various firms are placed together in teams alongside students and faculty in a four-member team scramble with a shotgun start. The tournament helps support chapter activities through fundraising, facilitates networking in a more casual setting, and introduces students to "the sport of business." Prizes are awarded to winning teams and individuals.

Career Day (Fall)

Career Day is held in Salt Lake City in partner with other universities in the state. Students visit different firms in the area and attend presentations on various topics. The event provides students the opportunity to learn more about the accounting profession, interact with professionals, compare and contrast firms, and network with students from across the state.

Mock Interviews (Spring)

Students can practice interviewing with recruiters and professionals from the Salt Lake and Cache Valley area. Interviewers provide students with excellent interview and resume feedback to better prepare them for the upcoming recruiting season.

Competitions

The national Beta Alpha Psi organization hosts a number of events for chapters to compete in. Competitions include presentations on various topics, recognition for outstanding chapter achievements, and development of chapter activities. Competitions are held at the regional and national meetings. These meetings also provide opportunities for broader networking and educational development.

Socials

Social events spread camaraderie among students. Past activities have included bonfires, human foosball, bowling, and ropes courses.
