USU Jon M. Huntsman School of Business to Honor PricewaterhouseCoopers Executive

LOGAN – The Utah State University Jon M. Huntsman School of Business will honor J. Scott Nixon of PricewaterhouseCoopers with a Professional Achievement Award Thursday, Oct. 25.

Nixon serves as managing partner of the firm's Salt Lake City office. He will receive the award during the Partners in Business Accounting Seminar held at the Eccles Conference Center on the USU campus.

The Professional Achievement Award is given in recognition of individuals who achieve extraordinary success in their careers and demonstrate uncommon leadership in their communities.

Nixon graduated from USU with bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting in 1984. When he was hired he was the only USU graduate working in the Salt Lake City office.

Nixon said his company finds USU graduates to be hardworking and ethical, and that during his time with the company they have hired nearly 100 USU students.

"There's just something about the students at USU," Nixon said. "They know what it is to work hard. They know the importance of an honest day's effort. We have had such incredible success with people we hired from Utah State."

Nixon was made a partner in 1994 and has since served a four-year stint for the company in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he oversaw the global regulatory affairs for South and Central America.

Nixon serves on USU's School of Accountancy Advisory Board.

"By his example and his influence Scott has opened the doors for many of our students, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their work ethic and the chance to get a good start on their careers," said Richard Jenson, head of the School of Accountancy. "His continued contributions to the School of Accountancy have helped us keep our standards high and our reputation sound."
