LOGAN, UT – Stephen M.R. Covey, author of the best-selling book “The SPEED of Trust,” will speak at a Special Commemorative Dean’s Convocation at Utah State University Huntsman School of Business in honor of his father’s 80th birthday Oct. 24.

Covey is the son of Stephen R. Covey, the Huntsman Presidential Chair in Leadership who died in July 2012 due to complications after a biking accident earlier in the year. Stephen M.R. Covey led the strategy that drove the sales of his father’s book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” into the millions. CEO Magazine called the book one of the two most influential business books of the 20th Century. He will speak in honor of his father, at 11:30 a.m., in the George S. Eccles Business Building in the Orson A. Christensen Auditorium (room 215). The convocation is open to the public and free.

“The SPEED of Trust” was a #1 “Wall Street Journal” and “New York Times” best seller, and “Smart Trust,” a book he co-authored, was a #1 Amazon bestseller. Covey has been interviewed by many major print publications including “Forbes” and “Fortune,” and has appeared on several national television news programs including CNN, CNBC and the Mike Huckabee Show.

Covey is the former CEO of the Covey Leadership Center; under his stewardship it became the largest leadership development company in the world. When he was named CEO of the Covey Leadership Center, the company was valued at $2.4 million. Within three years, shareholder value grew to $160 million, partly through a merger he organized with then Franklin Quest to form FranklinCovey.

Covey left FranklinCovey to cofound CoveyLink Worldwide, but has since merged CoveyLink with FranklinCovey, where he now serves as a Global Practice Leader for the Global Speed of Trust Practice.
