The Master of Science in Management Information Systems at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business provides a unique blend of technical knowledge, business acumen, and project management skills integrating lean manufacturing principles.
The program includes 33 credits while the core consists of 18 credits of advanced coursework in information systems areas including database management, systems analysis, data communications, and systems development. The core also includes specialized coursework in lean manufacturing along project courses that blend lean principles and systems development. These core courses will provide you with a marketable systems background as well as lean management principles that will help prepare you to move into senior management and leadership positions. Additional elective courses may also include classes from other disciplines including management, engineering, computer science, and instructional technology.

According to a recent “Utah Jobs Outlook” published by the Utah Department of Workforce Services, MIS-related occupations including computer and information systems managers, database administrators, and computer systems analysts all received 5-star ratings. These 5-star occupations are projected to have the strongest employment outlook with high wages though 2016.
