The Master of Accounting (MAcc) at the Huntsman School of Accountancy is designed for students who have the desire to elevate their professional opportunities. Most students in this program aspire to become Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and join the ranks of the most trusted and recognized financial services profession in the world. The MAcc program builds upon the undergraduate accounting curriculum to provide students with the enhanced ability to research, analyze, and communicate on various accounting and taxation issues. The MAcc program also instills professional attitudes and values.
The School of Accountancy has long cultivated strategic relationships with the accounting profession and its accounting alumni, many of whom are now leaders in the accounting and business communities. Their example of professional conduct, and their willingness to spend time on campus enables our students to begin early to build a professional network and prepare themselves to enter the accounting profession.
The MAcc enjoys an outstanding reputation among the employers who come to campus to recruit our students. Among those with ongoing recruiting relationships are the Big Four accounting firms, large regional accounting firms, local firms, and government agencies. For the past three years, an average of 93% of MAcc graduates had accepted employment offers by the time of their graduation.
CPA Exam candidates from Utah State University were ranked in the top ten in CPA Exam pass rates for students with advanced accounting degrees for the years 2007 (5th in the nation) and 2008 (8th in the nation). Only two other schools in the country were ranked in the top ten for both years.
Special AACSB Accounting AccreditationUSU’s School of Accountancy has achieved national recognition as one of the few schools worldwide to have been awarded special accounting accreditation by the prestigious AACSB International and is a member of the Federation of Schools of Accountancy.
The Utah State University campus is located in Logan, Utah in scenic Cache Valley. Students enjoy a rich, traditional residential campus atmosphere. Logan offers excellent access to arts and entertainment as well many outdoor recreational activities.
