Wind power is not just about saving the environment, but obviously that does play a major part. It also allows us to look carefully at ourselves and how we run our lives. And on top of all of that, it also makes money, and in some cases, it makes very big money. In the United States, the true impact of how much of a financial impact a wind turbine can have was very recently underlined. The fact is that wind power can have a massive input into the financial fortunes of states, and even countries, with even a little amount of initial investment and creation.
Utah State University recently carried out a study in which it was made very clear that building wind turbines creates a lot of economic happiness. The study said that a 50 Megawatt wind turbine development created in Utah could bring in over $30 million of cash flow into the state. In addition to this, the number of new jobs created by the site (51 workers on site) could bring in over £3 million in extra money as regards payroll. Utah does very well indeed, in other words. This has, of course, amazing ramifications for the rest of the world, especially political units, who may need to think about the value of making strong investments into the technology.
There are lease payments to landowners who are willing to have wind turbines developed on their land. There are also tax income units that come in as a result of development. This, alongside other input that local services could receive form tax benefits and general state finances, means that the income streams do keep on going.
There is clear proof then, that having a wind turbine built is a good thing, and doubly so. It can save the planet and the economy too.
