In addition to a high pass rate on the CPA exam, USU’s accountancy students are also successful at finding jobs after graduation.

The Huntsman School of Business has consistently placed more than 90 percent of its accounting graduates in positions within the field or in graduate programs.

Recruiters from the four largest accounting firms in the nation regularly visit looking for new hires.
Brad Schultz, who earned a master’s in accountancy in 2008, found a job with one of those companies — Ernst & Young. He works in the firm’s Salt Lake City office.

“The program is strong because they don’t just focus on memorizing concepts,” Schultz said. “It’s more of an interactive environment where we have case studies and we do presentations to learn the ‘why’ of the accounting rules and not just memorize them point for point.”

Larry Walther, head of the School of Accountancy, said he hopes that these successes will draw more students to USU. He would like to see enrollment rise from 45 students to 60.
