Larry Hendricks

Larry graduated from USU in 1968 with a B.S. in accounting. The following two years, he spent serving in the US Army in Vietnam. After his service, he attended the University of Utah and graduated in 1971 with a MBA.

In 1972 he passed the CPA exam and went to work for Peat Marwick and Mitchell. Four years later he went to work for American Strevell, a large grocery and hardware wholesaler, as controller and eventually V.P. of finance. In 1981 American Strevell went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy and Larry began a ten-year experience with self employment and entrepreneurship. Major projects were Western Heritage Thrift and Loan, Commonwealth Management, Quality Inn of Las Vegas, Trolley Village Condominiums, Skin care International, Turrex International, North America Equities, and A & R Meats.

In 1990 Larry and a major investor bought the A & R Meat building and renovated it into a bacon processing plant and started Daily Foods, Inc. Larry became general manager and V.P. of finance, member of the board of directors and a significant stockholder. Daily Foods became widely known for producing premium bacon products, reaching $100 million in sales in 2005 when it was acquired by Seaboard Industries. Major customers were the U.S. Government, McDonalds, Arby's, Whataburger, Sysco, and the Las Vegas Hotels. Larry elected to retire in 2002 and spends much time traveling with his family and playing competitive softball.

Larry is a member of the Utah Association of CPA's and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) as well as serving on the board of directors of Clearone, an audio manufacturing company, and Tunes International, Inc., an auto repair company. In his spare time he has taught accounting and economics courses at Weber State University and the LDS Business College.

For seven years Larry had the opportunity to serve on the development board for St. Vincent DePaul Food Kitchen. He has continued his charitable service by serving as treasurer and on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity. He was with Habitat for Humanity for four years. He now serves on the board for the Davis County Women's Shelter.

Larry is married to Myra who is also a USU alum. They have five children and they make their home in North Salt Lake, Utah. They established the Hendricks Family Scholarship in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business and have given a total of $83,520 to the university.
