MBA Program Assessment Introduction

The MBA program at USU uses the top professors across the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business to teach its courses. The faculty has developed in-depth assessment methods for the courses that reflect both the approach to assessment in their home department and the nature of the MBA course. These methods include:

  • Course embedded assessment against learning objectives in the six core courses.
  • National Business Major Field Test (ETS) exam for assessment of overall MBA knowledge attained.
  • Student assessment of progress against program learning goals, the rigor and relevance of classes taken, a career advancement portfolio indicating capabilities developed in the MBA program, and an exit survey.
  • The program also tracks evidence of change and continuous improvement, and that evidence is summarized under continuous improvement.

Student Career Advancement Portfolio

Graduating students are required to prepare a career portfolio that includes their career objectives and plans, analyzes the skills they have developed in the MBA program, and discuss their future development plans. Faculty review of these portfolios provides excellent insight into the students’ experiences in the program.

A sample from an MBA student in the UVSC program, cohort XI from the Summer of 2007 is available for review.
