USU senior enjoys five-month internship in Brussels, Belgium

A USU senior, Ryan Allen, did his internship for a globally-recognized company that soon tapped his talents to build new relationships with other companies. He found his business development internship with S.E.O Advanced and Obelis through the Career Aggie website.

Projects:

  • He started by editing some websites and translating content into Spanish. He ended up contacting top executives in other companies via the phone and e-mail to develop new business contacts for the company.
  • He developed marketing strategies for a world-wide audience, translating website content, and overseeing development of presentations for clients.
  • He met with the owner of a large voiceover IP service provider in Antwerp. He listened to his needs and brought the ideas back to S.E.O. to be implemented. He organized all of the information, supervised the web development and approved all changes or additions.

"The daily experiences I have through S.E.O. Advanced do more than relate to my studies," he said. They give me real-life experience in the business development field. I learned things that are not possible to learn in the classroom or books. I didn’t arrive in Brussels Belgium knowing all I know today; I have had to work and continue to learn."

Ryan secured his internship through the CareerAggie website. Ryan completed his internship at the end of 2006.

"I didn’t just spend five months on vacation in Belgium," he said. "I gained valuable marketing experience and saw some pretty cool places along the way."
