School of Accountancy Scholarships
Departmental Undergraduate
The School of Accountancy has a number of scholarships awarded annually for both undergraduate and graduate students. The deadline for scholarship applications is March 1. School of Accountancy scholarship applications may be obtained in the SOA office, Eccles Business Building room 515, or you may [print a scholarship application here.] Students receiving scholarships at the University level will not be considered for additional awards at the department level.
Scholarship recipients will be notified of their award by the first week of April. Recipients of SOA scholarships are strongly encouraged to attend the annual Awards and Recognition Banquet where scholarship recipients and donors are recognized. Details of the banquet will be included in the award letter.
Jon M. Huntsman School of Business Undergraduate

Financial Assistance for MAcc Students
Limited financial assistance is available in the form of Presidential Fellowships, graduate assistantships, and special School of Accountancy scholarships. All are awarded on a competitive basis. Applications are due March 1. Awards are announced by the first week of April.
Departmental Graduate Scholarships
Scholarships are only available to U.S. residents. A major criterion for receiving a graduate scholarship is the student’s index number. The index number is calculated by multiplying the student GPA for the last 60 semester hours by 200 and adding his/her GMAT score. For example, if a student has a 3.5 GPA during his/her last 60 semester hours and has scored 610 on the GMAT, the index number will be 1310 [(3.5 X 200) + 610]. Presidential Fellowships
In order to be nominated by the School of Accountancy for a Presidential Fellowship, the following criteria must be met:
- A 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA for at least 60 semester hours
- A GMAT score at or above the 70th percentile in each category
- Excellent reference letters
- Full-time registration required (a minimum of nine graduate credit hours)
Graduate Assistantships
Graduate assistantships are available to students enrolled in the Master of Accounting program at Utah State University. International students are eligible to apply for an assistantship in the School of Accountancy after attending one year at an English language university. The assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis to students who have demonstrated good English communication skills. A major criterion for receiving the award is the student's index number. The index number is calculated by multiplying the student GPA for the last 60 semester hours by 200 and adding his/her GMAT score. For example, if a student has a 3.5 GPA during his/her last 60 semester hours and has scored 610 on the GMAT, his/her index number will be 1310 [(3.5 X 200) + 610].
Amount of Award
Students work approximately 140 hours per semester during the fall and spring semesters as a grader, lab assistant, or research assistant and will be paid $1,500 per semester. The out-of-state portion of tuition is waived for non-Utah residents during fall and spring semesters (there is no charge for out-of-state tuition during the summer semester).
Application Deadline
The deadline for assistantship applications is March 1. Students must have a U.S. Social Security card before the award can be finalized.
Limitation of Award
Generally, the recipient may hold an assistantship for only two semesters and only while enrolled in graduate level accounting classes. Enrollment in pre-requisite classes will not qualify a student to receive the assistantship.
