Admission Requirements and Deadlines

Admission into the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business is competitive and based on available space. Admission requirements are as follows:

Undergraduate Students

Freshman Undergraduate Applicants:

Students will be directly admitted into the Huntsman School of Business if they meet ONE of the following and declare a Huntsman School major on the USU Admissions Application:

  • Top 10% of high school class
  • 3.7+ High School GPA
  • 28+ ACT/1250+ SAT score
  • 3.5+ High School GPA AND 24+ ACT/1090+ SAT score
    • For accounting majors: 3.6+ High School GPA and 26+ ACT/1170+ SAT

FRESHMAN COMPETITIVE ADMISSION PROCESS

If you do not meet the above requirements you can still be accepted into a Huntsman School major by completing the following:

Step 1:

  • Declare a Huntsman School major on the USU Admissions Application. While completing the requirements below you will be designated as undeclared business on university record.

Step 2:

  • Complete 24 post-high school credits including:
    • C or better in ECN 1500
    • C or better in ENGL 2010
    • C or better in STAT 2000 or 2300
  • Cumulative 2.67 GPA (3.0 GPA and B or better in ACCT 2010 for accounting majors)

Step 3:

The admissions application is currently closed. The application will open again at the beginning of spring semester 2015.

Application Deadlines:

  • December 1 for students completing requirements during Fall semester
  • April 1 for students completing requirements during Spring semester
  • July 1 for students completing requirements during Summer semester

Transfer Undergraduate Applicants:

Students can be directly admitted into the Huntsman School of Business if they meet the following:

Transfer conditional Admit Process

If you do not meet the above requirements you can still be accepted into a Huntsman School major by completing the following:

USU Student Direct Admit Process

Students can be directly admitted into the Huntsman School of Business if they meet the following:

When a change of matriculation is desired, a student must go to the department office in which he/she is presently enrolled to initiate the proper paperwork. For a change of major, signatures of representatives from both departments are required on the form before it is sent to the Registrar's Office.

USU Student Conditional Admit Process

If you do not meet the above requirements you can still be accepted into a Huntsman School major by completing the following:

Graduate Students

Graduate Program Applicants:

Each individual graduate program has its own application deadline(s) based upon its curriculum. Please refer to the "Program Location" page on the website of the program you are interested in. Each program also has slightly different admissions requirements as listed on the "APPLY" page of each website.

Applications for admission to graduate programs is handled by the USU School of Graduate Studies. For information about the steps that need to completed in order to apply and a link to the admissions application, visit the Graduate School's Apply page.

International Students

International Student Applicants (undergraduate and Graduate):

Admissions to the Huntsman School

Once international students have been admitted to USU, they then need to be accepted into their major/graduate program in the Huntsman School of Business.

Huntsman School Undergraduate Admissions

Undergraduate international students will then complete the same admissions requirements as Current USU Students, as listed above in "Undergraduate Students - Current USU Undergraduate" section.

Huntsman School Graduate Admissions

Graduate international students will then need to meet the admission requirements for the program they are applying to as well as complete a School of Graduate Studies application to be accepted into their specific program.  See the "Graduate Student" section above for details.
