Admission Requirements and Deadlines

Admission into the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business is competitive and based on available space. Admission requirements are as follows:

Freshman Undergraduate Applicants:

Students will be directly admitted into the Huntsman School of Business if they meet ONE of the following and declare a Huntsman School major on the USU Admissions Application:

  • Top 10% of high school class
  • High School GPA of 3.7 or above
  • ACT score of 28 or above
  • 3.5 High School GPA or above AND 24 ACT score
    • (26 ACT and 3.6 HS GPA or above for accounting majors)

FRESHMAN COMPETITIVE ADMISSION PROCESS

If you do not meet the above requirements you can still be accepted into a Huntsman School major by completing the following:

Step 1:

  • Declare a Huntsman School major on the USU Admissions Application. While completing the requirements below you will be designated as undeclared business on university record.

Step 2:

  • Complete 24 post-high school credits including:
    • C or better in ECN 1500
    • C or better in ENGL 2010
    • C or better in STAT 2000 or 2300
  • Cumulative 2.67 GPA (3.0 GPA and B or better in ACCT 2010 for accounting majors)

Step 3:

Application Deadlines:

  • December 1 for students completing requirements during Fall semester
  • April 1 for students completing requirements during Spring semester
  • July 1 for students completing requirements during Summer semester

Transfer Undergraduate Applicants:

Students can be directly admitted into the Huntsman School of Business if they meet the following:

Transfer conditional Admit Process

If you do not meet the above requirements you can still be accepted into a Huntsman School major by completing the following:

Step 1:

  • Declare a Huntsman School major on the USU Admissions Application. While completing the requirements below you will be designated as undeclared business on university record.

Step 2:

  • Complete 24 post-high school credits including:

Step 3:

  • During the semester you are completing the requirements, you will want to apply to the Huntsman School of Business to become a declared business major. Apply here, Huntsman School Admissions Application.

  • April 1 for students completing requirements during Spring semester
  • July 1 for students completing requirements during Summer semester

Current USU Undergraduate Applicants:

USU Student Direct Admit Process

Students can be directly admitted into the Huntsman School of Business if they meet the following:

When a change of matriculation is desired, a student must go to the department office in which he/she is presently enrolled to initiate the proper paperwork. For a change of major, signatures of representatives from both departments are required on the form before it is sent to the Registrar's Office.

USU Student conditional Admit Process

If you do not meet the above requirements you can still be accepted into a Huntsman School major by completing the following:

Step 1:

  • Complete 24 post-high school credits including:
    • C or better in ECN 1500
    • C or better in ENGL 2010
    • C or better in STAT 2000 or 2300
  • Cumulative 2.67 GPA (3.0 GPA and B or better in ACCT 2010 for accounting majors)

Step 2:

  • During the semester you are completing the requirements, you will want to apply to the Huntsman School of Business to become a declared business major. Apply here, Huntsman School Admissions Application.

Graduate Program Applicants:

Each individual graduate program has its own application deadline(s) based upon its curriculum. Please refer to the "Program Location" page on the website of the program you are interested in. Each program also has slightly different admissions requirements as listed on the "APPLY" page of each website.
