Biography

Professor Jay Price is the Arthur Andersen Executive Professor of Accounting. He joined the faculty of the USU School of Accountancy upon his retirement from Arthur Andersen in 1988. He teaches intermediate and advanced accounting courses. He has also taught graduate courses in accounting theory and research and public utility accounting.

During 39 years with Arthur Andersen & Co., Professor Price acquired substantial expertise in public utility accounting and auditing. He served as chairman of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' Public Utility Panel on Regulatory Accounting. He has presented expert testimony for the Financial Accounting Standards Board, in various courts, to federal regulatory agencies in the United States and Canada, and for regulatory commissions in more than 25 states, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands. He has made presentations at nearly 100 professional, industry, and regulatory meetings, and has co-authored articles in publications of the Duke School of Law and Wharton School of Finance.

On three occasions (1989, 1999, 2004) he has been named School of Accountancy Professor of the Year.  In 1993 he received an honorary doctorate degree from Utah State University.

Professor Price graduated with high honors in accounting from the University of Wisconsin following service in the United States Army during World War II. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma, Beta Alpha Psi, Phi Eta Sigma, and Phi Kappa Phi honorary societies.
